What to expect, month by month

SEO is slow by nature. Be suspicious of anyone who tells you otherwise. Google itself says that “no one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.” Here’s how the work usually unfolds:

WhenWhat we doWhat you should see
Month 1Audit, keyword research, tracking setup, technical fixesA written list of problems and priorities
Months 2 to 3Page optimization, Google Business Profile work, first content and linksPages start appearing for more search terms, often low on the page
Months 4 to 6More content and links, improving what’s starting to rankMore impressions, then clicks. Easier local terms often move first
Month 6 onwardCompetitive terms, conversion improvements, adjusting the planEnquiries you can trace to search, if the market allows it

These are typical patterns, not promises. New domains and crowded industries take longer. We explain why in how long local SEO takes.

What your monthly report contains

A report should make sense without an SEO dictionary. Yours will answer four questions:

  1. What did we do? A list of the actual tasks: pages changed, issues fixed, links earned, content published.
  2. What changed? Clicks and search terms from Search Console. Visits and enquiries from Google Analytics. These sit in your own accounts, so you can check them yourself.
  3. What does it mean? In plain language, including what didn’t work.
  4. What’s next? Priorities for next month, and anything we need from you.

Local SEO for Halifax businesses

If you serve people nearby, the map results often matter more than the blue links. Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). We work on what you can influence: a complete profile, pages for your real services and areas, consistent business details, reviews and local links.

HRM has its own wrinkles. A Halifax address won’t automatically win searches in Dartmouth or Bedford, which we cover in showing up in Dartmouth, not just Halifax. You may also want to read what local SEO involves and how to get more Google reviews.

Links still help, but the wrong ones can harm you. Google’s spam policies cover buying links and producing large amounts of low-value content to manipulate rankings. So we aim for links a real business would earn: directories, local organizations, suppliers, partners and relevant sites in your field. We write content around questions your customers ask, and you review anything published in your name.

AI search is changing how people find businesses too. The basics carry over, as we explain in getting recommended by ChatGPT and AI Overviews.

Questions to ask any SEO company, including us

  • Can you list the specific tasks you completed for this client last month?
  • Will the data come from my own Search Console and Analytics?
  • Who actually does the work, and will I speak to that person?
  • Am I locked into a contract, and what happens to my accounts if I leave?
  • Where will my backlinks come from?
  • Have you promised me a ranking? If so, why?

At Eski Media, founder Caglar Aybas runs the strategy and is your contact. Your accounts stay yours.

Questions about SEO

Is the $199 plan enough?

For a small business in a low-competition niche, it’s a sensible start. It covers foundations and five pages. If competitors publish regularly and have strong links, you’ll probably need Growth to catch up.

SEO or Google Ads?

Ads can bring calls soon after launch but stop when the budget stops. SEO is slower and keeps working longer. Many businesses run Google Ads while SEO builds.

What’s in the free SEO report?

A review of your site’s main issues and opportunities, sent by email or WhatsApp, with no obligation.

Do you need access to my website?

Yes, for on-page and technical work. You add us as a user on your site, Search Console and Analytics, and you can remove us at any time.

Do you work with businesses outside Halifax?

Yes, anywhere in Canada. Local work depends on knowing the area, so we’ll ask plenty of questions about yours.
