How we write

Editorial policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

We write our guides for local business owners making real decisions: what to spend, what to fix first, and what rules apply. This page explains who writes them, how they’re researched and checked, how we use AI tools, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who writes our content

Our articles carry the name of Caglar Aybas, founder of Eski Media. He is responsible for what appears on this site. Topics come from the questions clients ask us and the problems we run into in our own work on websites, search, ads, video and drone projects.

How we research

  • Primary sources first. Where a guide depends on a rule, a fee or a platform behaviour, we link to the source that sets it: Google’s own documentation, the Canada Revenue Agency, Transport Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia, Shopify, Canada Post and similar.
  • Current results. Before writing, we check what currently ranks for the question and look for what those pages miss or get wrong.
  • Local context. Where it matters, we write for Halifax, Nova Scotia and Canada specifically, including prices in Canadian dollars and Canadian tax and privacy rules.
  • No invented numbers. We don’t publish statistics, client results or quotes we can’t source. Where an example uses made-up figures to show how a calculation works, we label it as illustrative.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help with research, outlining and drafting. We think readers deserve to know that. AI does not decide what we publish. Before publication, we check every article against the sources it cites, edit it for accuracy and clarity, and run it through our own quality checks. Those checks cover readability, repetitive or filler phrasing, and claims without a source.

Independence

We don’t accept payment to mention or recommend products, and our guides don’t contain paid placements. When we compare tools or platforms, such as Shopify and WooCommerce, or Checkfront and FareHarbor, we say if we use or sell services connected to them.

Keeping guides up to date

Many topics we cover change: tax rates, platform features, drone rules, cross-border shipping. Each article shows its publication date. When a rule or price changes, we update the affected guides and note what changed.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong or out of date, email info@eskimedia.com with the page and the issue. We’ll check it against the source and correct it promptly. We note significant corrections at the end of the article.

Not professional advice

Our guides are general information. For legal, tax, customs or accounting decisions, talk to a qualified professional. See our Terms of Use.
